We're holding a mental health recruitment day on Wednesday 10 August and we want you to join us. 

From 10:30am until 5pm, our teams will be on hand at the Kentmere Ward at Westmorland General Hospital, to guide you through some of the opportunities we have on offer and the many benefits of working for a forward thinking mental health trust that delivers excellent care.

Bay Welcome Bonus - terms and conditions

A Welcome Bonus specific to the Bay is now being offered to external new starters being recruited to the following roles. This is a pilot for new staff starting at the organisation, in posts as detailed below, between 1st June 2022 and 30th November 2022 (the pilot period).

The roles eligible for the Bay Welcome Bonus scheme are detailed below;

  • Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurses: all Inpatient Units (Dova, Kentmere, Ramsey, The Orchard).

  • Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurses: all Inpatient Units (Dova, Kentmere, Ramsey, The Orchard).

  • Band 5 and 6 Mental Health Practitioner roles (All registered professions - RMNs, OTs or Social Workers): Lancaster and Morecambe Community Mental Health team.


The Welcome Bonus package is only available for people who are not currently employed, (or who have been not employed in the last 12 months), by Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. Bank only workers are eligible for the scheme if they have not held a substantive role in the same position in the last 12 months and subject to all other terms and conditions being met.

The amount the new starter could receive is shown in the Welcome Bonus Payment Schedule below:

  • £3,000 after 2 months of employment (counted from start date with LSCft)
  • £2,000 after 12 months
  • £2,000 after 24 months

The amount received for part-time staff will be calculated on a pro-rata basis i.e. someone employed for 0.50 Whole time equivalent (18.75 Hours per week) will receive 50% of the amount specified above.

Repayments are due if you leave the substantive role with the Trust within 24 months  of your start date as below:

  • Less than 12 months employment - 100% to be paid back
  • From 12 – 18 months employment - 75% to be paid back
  • From 18 – 24 months employment - 50% to be paid back

Car parking

There are parking spaces for people with blue badges in front of all the main entrances and in the main pay and display car park. Blue badge holders do not need to pay for parking at the hospital. There are also limited free 20 minute short stay parking spaces in front of entrances.

The pay and display machines only take coins, not notes or debit/credit cards, and don’t give change. Change is available from General Office during normal working hours.
