Community Pain Service

The Community Pain Service is a group of clinicians and support staff that work closely with you to diagnose your pain condition, and develop a shared management plan.  We provide most of our treatment/therapy in the community.

Our aim is to work in partnership with you to:

  • Reduce pain and/or its impact, when possible
  • Maximise functionality and wellbeing

To help with these aims we have a multi-professional workforce, with a medical doctor, physiotherapists, pharmacist, clinical psychologists, assistant psychologist, an occupational therapist, a specialist nurse and medical secretaries. We aim to place you, the patient, at the heart of this teamwork.

We are based in the community and have links with other community services, including exercise classes, gyms & voluntary organisations to help maintain wellbeing.  We work in close partnership with our expert patient volunteer group, run by individuals who live with chronic pain.  Their aim is to unite and support pain sufferers and their carers through informal meetings, light exercise classes and discussions.  See www.painclinicplus.org.uk for further information.
