The team who provide health and wellbeing advice to people across West Lancashire are encouraging families to get outdoors during the summer holidays and help combat obesity in both adults and children.
Jenny Broom, Health Improvement Specialist at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:
“Many people are aware of the importance of eating a balanced diet; however it is important that this is coupled with regular physical activity to help towards an overall healthier lifestyle. The summer holidays are a great way for families to get outdoors and get active. There is something for everyone, from playing games to exploring the outdoors, and it is a great, cheap way to keep the kids entertained during the summer break
“The Change4Life website has a range of resources people can use to plan activities over the summer, as well as some great ideas for healthy snacks and food swaps to help cut down on fats and sugar in the whole family’s diet.”
