Top 100 Best Places to Work

Posted on the 11th September 2014

The list was compiled by the HSJ in conjunction with NHS Employers after the results of a national staff survey were analysed by an independent company.

Lancashire Care was one of only two healthcare Trusts in Lancashire to have made it on to the list. The list is published as an annual celebration of the UK’s elite public sector healthcare employers and a range of factors are taking into consideration including leadership and planning, role satisfaction, work environment and training and development. The list highlights team solidarity being high amongst employees at Lancashire Care with 85% of staff feeling supported by their colleagues and managers.

Heather Tierney-Moore, Chief Executive at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:

"We are delighted to have made the HSJ’s Top 100 places to work in healthcare. The results are based on what our employees have said about us and to be recognised in this way is a wonderful achievement. As an organisation we always strive to provide the very best in healthcare to our service users. This would not be possible without the dedication and commitment demonstrated by all our staff on a daily basis, and knowing they feel supported and happy with their work transfers over to the care provided.”

Craig Barratt, Executive Director of Workforce, Innovation and Transformation said:

“We have put in place several programmes to support staff in their roles and with training and development. We have also implemented an initiative called the Innovation Incubator which provides staff a method to submit any ideas for improvements to work provided by their team or service with the opportunity to receive £1,000 funding for the implementation of their idea. We also have a dedicated appreciative leadership programme which helps mould the next generation of leaders within the Trust. Teamwork is one of our main values and this shines through in everyday activities around the Trust and it is great to see this highlighted in the report.”
