The Fit Squad, part of Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, offers a community nutrition, weight management and physical activity service. The team has given their website a makeover and it now has an easy to use format providing helpful advice and information for people wanting to access the service. The site includes useful tips on healthy living and exercise and you can also read real life success stories from people who have accessed the programme.
Tracy Sutton, Fit Squad Manager at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:
“We are really pleased with the outcome of the new website. It is important people are able to access information easily and at the click of a button and we hope visitors to the site like the new look.
“It is important everyone has a healthy, balanced diet, which includes exercise, to reduce the risk of obesity and the health risks associated with that, which include diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. The new site provides details on the programmes we offer, as well as hints and tips on how to eat a healthy diet and the benefits of exercise to help maintain a healthy lifestyle.”
The Fit Squad offer a variety of programmes which include the following:
- Food for Thought – a 10 week programme for people with a BMI over 25 to help change eating habits through education, activity and behaviour change techniques.
- Enhanced Weight Management – a 3 month intensive programme of tailored advice and support.
- Activity for Life – 12 week supported scheme to help people increase their level of physical activity.
- Walks – the team organise a range of led group walks across Lancashire.
