Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust’s Mindsmatter service in Burnley has received praise for its work by Norman Lamb MP, Minister for State for Care and Support and Gordon Birtwistle MP after a recent visit.
The Burnley Mindsmatter team, previously known as Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Service, received a visit from the two figureheads to look at the developments being made into the quality of care available for people experiencing mental health problems in the area. The service has recently undergone a re-brand and provides a range of talking therapies for people experiencing common mental health problems such as depression, stress and anxiety. Mr Lamb and Mr Birtwistle received a tour of the service and spoke with members of staff and service users about their experience.
The Right Hon Norman Lamb MP, Minister of State for Care and Support said:
“It was fantastic to have a look round the Mindsmatter service and see the excellent work for people with mental health problems in the area. I want to build a fairer society and that means better mental health care for everyone. This service is a great example of how the right resources and dedication of everyone involved can give people the high quality support they deserve.”
Gordon Birtwistle, MP for Burnley and Padiham said:
“For far too long, mental health has been neglected compared to physical health. It was good to see the work being done in Burnley by the Mindsmatter team to improve the provision of support for those experiencing mental health problems in Burnley and Padiham. Many people will at some time or another have to deal with mental health issues either for themselves or a loved one and it is inspiring to see the passion the Burnley Mindsmatter team have for their work.”
Philip Gooden, Mindsmatter Service Manager said of the visit:
“It was an honour to receive a visit from both Mr Lamb and Mr Birtwistle. The comments received during the visit were fantastic and the recognition reflects the hard work that has gone in to creating a service which provides quality, compassionate care for the people of Lancashire.”
