There’s lots of information and activities in store at The Harbour Open Day in Blackpool as it opens its doors to members of the public on Saturday 21 February from 10am to 3pm.
Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust is opening up The Harbour on 21 February between 10am and 3pm to allow members of the public to come along, have a look round and talk to members of staff about the development before it becomes operational on 11 March 2015. There will be lots of fun activities for all the family, including the opportunity to design a tile which will form part of a sculpture to be displayed in the main entrance, as well as the opportunity to find out about some of our other teams and services. In addition some of the Trust’s third sector partners will be in attendance including Healthwatch, Music and the Mind and Citizens Advice. On the day the Trust will also be revealing the new road name which has been voted for by members of the public. You do not need to book an appointment, just turn up on the day and say hello!
The Harbour is the Trust’s innovative new building which embodies the Trust’s vision of providing 21st century healthcare with wellbeing at its heart. It will provide 154 inpatient mental health beds for people across Lancashire, utilising the latest technology combined with dedicated healthcare professionals to provide high quality, compassionate care for the people who need it. Located just off the M55 in Blackpool, the development will provide care across four main areas; Functional Acute, Advanced Care, Dementia and Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs).
Alistair Rose, Project Director for The Harbour said:
“We have received great support from the public throughout the development of The Harbour, from naming the building, to choosing the suite names. People may have driven past the site at various stages of development, have a general interest in the building or have a loved one in our care who may be moving to unit. The Open Day is a fantastic opportunity for people to come and have a look at the building, talk to staff and hear about the services we provide, and most importantly we hope everyone will have fun!”
The Harbour is also home to Sparky’s Café which is being run in partnership with the Richmond Fellowship, a mental health charity who provide support for people experiencing mental health illness. Their vision for the café is that it will provide a community hub where people can go for a relaxing chat with friends, as well as providing people with health and wellbeing advice ranging from healthy eating to dementia awareness sessions. During the Open Day people will be able to sample the tasty delights that will be available in the café and talk to members of staff to find out more about the work the charity does.
