Trust Recruiting New Chair

Posted on the 24th August 2015

The Trust is consulting members of the public in relation to the recruitment of a new Chair. The current Chair, Derek Brown, reaches the end of his nine year term in March 2016. Derek has been a member of the Trust board since 2007 and has led the Board for the last three years. Peter Ballard, the Trust’s Deputy Chair, is leading the process to encourage members of the public to get in touch with him to share experiences they have had and offer any thoughts about what they feel is needed from the Chair.

The Trust is looking for someone who has a keen interest in the public sector, who might have had experience of working with Boards or held a senior management position. The Chair’s key role will be to lead the Trust’s Board and other duties include being an ambassador to speak on the Trust’s behalf to partners and holding the Chief Executive to account.

Peter Ballard, Deputy Chair at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:

‘‘We are looking to appoint a new Chair who is interested in health and wellbeing services in the Public Sector and who will encourage us to continually grow whilst keeping quality at the heart of what we do. The Chair is required to help us with our vision and strategy whilst driving us forward. I am encouraging anyone who is interested in joining us to visit the website or to contact me directly for an informal chat. You may even know people who would thrive at this opportunity, so reach out to them and invite them to get in touch with us to find out more!’’

Peter Ballard can be contacted via email at

The position will be advertised nationally from mid-August and the official process will follow in September. More information is available at Peter will continue his consultation during this time to understand what works well and which areas can be improved, in order to appoint a candidate that will meet all the requirements of a successful Chair.
