Sexual Health Awareness Week is taking place between 14 and 20 September and Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust is supporting the week by continuing to highlight and communicate the importance of good sexual health around the area. The week is led by the Family Planning Association and this year the theme will be focusing on sexual pleasure and wellbeing. There are five key areas around the theme that are being targeted during the campaign which are:
- Education
- Older people
- Learning disabilities
- Separating fantasy from reality
- Communication skills
Sue Capstick, Service Line Manager for Sexual Health at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:
‘‘This week is the perfect opportunity for us all to start healthy conversations about sexual pleasure that people might find awkward or uncomfortable. It’s time to reduce the stigma attached to this subject so people can discuss their sexual wellbeing with health professionals to get the advice and support they might need or answers to questions they have struggled to ask in the past.’’
