Peerfest 2015

Posted on the 3rd December 2015

Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and Lancashire Mind together with wider partners are bringing together an extensive range of peer support groups and organisations for Peerfest 2015 on 10 December at Preston Guild Hall.

The national event, now in its third year, is coming to Preston. It brings together a diverse range of peer support groups, such as Thrive and Survive who offer support for victims of domestic abuse, Chrysalis who provide support and work on transgender awareness and the Trust"s own Community Restart teams amongst many more from across the country! Throughout the day there will be a variety of interactive workshops, activities and exhibitions, and also the announcement of the winner of the Marsh Award; a celebration of excellence in peer led support.

Keith Isherwood, Community Restart Service Manager at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:

"We are delighted to be involved with Peerfest 2015 and to be working alongside Lancashire Mind and wider partners. This event looks to be bigger and better than ever, with a vast range of support groups ranging from mental health, stroke to overall wellbeing. The event provides a great opportunity for people to get together and find out about support available as well as meeting others who may be experiencing similar health issues and provides a chance to have a chat and let people know they aren"t alone. We hope everyone enjoys the day and look forward to seeing you there!"

Lauren Oakland, Head of Core Services at Lancashire Mind said:

"Hosting Peerfest15 has been a fantastic opportunity to work with a wide range of organisations and individuals to create an uplifting event celebrating the power of peer support in all its shapes and sizes and its ability to support recovery and improve mental wellbeing for all."

Peer support happens when people offer each other support based on their lived experience. It can take place in all sorts of places, informally and formally, in one-to-one settings and in groups. For more information about the day, and to register your attendance, please visit
