Lancashire Care’s Contraception and Sexual Health Service (CaSH) in partnership with Brook, the young people’s charity, have opened a new sexual health service for under 25s in Morecambe.
Looking after your sexual health is an important part of general health and wellbeing, and CaSH encourages everyone under the age of 25s to take responsibility for their sexual health.
The new clinic is located at Victoria House in Morecambe and allows people aged up to 25 to see health specialists who provide comprehensive contraceptive services and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections including HIV in a single appointment.
Sue Horn, Specialist Nurse for the under 25s service, said: “I have worked in the area for over 20 years and I am delighted to be able to offer sexual health services to under 25s from the newly re-furbished site at Victoria House. Under 25s can access contraception, testing and treatment for Sexually Transmitted infections, and advice and information in a single appointment. We hope that young people make the most of this new clinic and look forward to welcoming new and existing clients.”
Members of the public can visit the clinic with or without appointments. Opening times are as follows:
- Tuesday: 10.20am – 12.20pm and 2.50pm – 4.50pm
- Thursday: 2.50pm – 4.50pm
Development of this new service in Morecambe forms part of Lancashire Care’s mobilisation of the new under 25s sexual health services commissioned on 1 April 2017. A new hub in Lancaster city centre will open in the middle of 2017 which will further ensure that under 25s have easy access to bespoke sexual health services designed to help meet the sexual health needs of under 25s in the area.
Earlier this year, the Trust’s CaSH service was awarded the Lancashire LGBT Quality Mark, a quality assurance programme for service providers, assisting in measuring how well the needs of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender service users, volunteers and staff are met.
