Spring – the season of new beginnings

Posted on the 2nd May 2017

With the spring fever in the air, young people below the age of 25 in West Lancashire are being reminded to take control of their sexual health by accessing Lancashire Care’s sexual health services at various locations in the area.

If you are under 25 and in a relationship, or single and looking for love or single and not looking for love, then looking after your sexual health is extremely important. Young people can access a range of contraceptive options and testing and treatment for STIs at sexual health clinics run by Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust’s Contraception and Sexual Health (CaSH) service. Our clinics in West Lancashire are:

  • Birleywood Health Centre, Skelmersdale, WN8 9BW. Wednesday: 1.30pm to 4.30pm; and Thursday: 1.30pm to 3.30pm (appointments-only).
  • Hants Lane Clinic, Hants Lane, Ormskirk, L39 1PX. Tuesday: 5.30pm to 7.30pm (appointments and walk-in); and Thursday: 5.30pm to 7.30pm (appointments-only).

Anji Stokes community education lead for the sexual health service said: “Looking after your sexual health is just as important as looking after other aspects of health and wellbeing. Our services are free, confidential, non-judgemental and run by specialist and experienced sexual health staff. Young people in West Lancashire can be confident that they are able to access appropriate care and make choices that are right for them.”

Last year, the Trust’s CaSH service was awarded the Lancashire LGBT Quality Mark, a quality assurance programme for service providers that assists in measuring how well the needs of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender service users, volunteers and staff are met.

To contact your local CaSH team, book an appointment or find out about ‘drop-ins,’ call 01772 401140. There are clinics in various locations and different session times across Lancashire. To find out more about services in your area, visit
