The DESMOND Team from Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award for excellence in delivering structured education for people with Type 2 Diabetes.
The DESMOND (Diabetes Education and Self-Management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed) programme is delivered across Lancashire and the team from Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted in the Excellence Award category of the annual Celebrating DESMOND Awards 2019.
Alex Kennedy, Education Co-ordinator at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, said:
“We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team who deliver a high standard of diabetes education. Managing a long-term condition like Type 2 Diabetes can be difficult, DESMOND can help support and develop the knowledge and skills to self-manage effectively.”
The awards have been running since 2014 to reward the efforts of DESMOND teams across the country and applaud and share good practice. Not only do the awards recognise those who work hard to improve the lives of people who have type 2 diabetes, but they also provide a unique opportunity to share and showcase good practice.
The winners for each category will be revealed at the Celebrating Desmond Conference event at the Leicester Diabetes centre on October 3 2019.
