An innovative new service which aims to help people suffering from mental health problems has received outstanding feedback from people using it.

The well-being and mental health helpline’s texting service, established by Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT), has been gathering satisfaction ratings since it opened in September 2019.

And staff in the team are delighted that latest results show that 100 per cent of people who have used the service say they would use it again.

Perri McGovern, Acting Service Manager in the team, said: “Since the launch of the texting service the feedback received so far has been amazing, with 100 per cent of people who filled in our questionnaire saying they would use the service again. They felt the support they received helped them, which is exactly what this service was set up to do. As a team we are delighted to be able to provide support in this new and innovative way.

“I would urge anyone who is suffering with a mental health problem to get in touch with our team for support. This includes those in crisis or just suffering with day to day problems or issues.”

The helpline, which can be contacted on 0800 915 4640 or be texting ‘hello’ to 07860 022846, is open:

  • Monday to Friday between 7pm and 11pm
  • Saturday to Sunday 12noon to 12midnight

It is available to anyone experiencing any type of mental health issue.
