Last week, we celebrated our nursing colleagues for International Nurses Day with a host of events throughout the week to recognise the vital role nurses play in saving lives and shaping the future of healthcare.
Each network hosted a virtual session on MS Teams to highlight the critical importance of empowering nurses through safe working conditions, fair pay, professional development and genuine leadership opportunities.
The interactive sessions highlighted key work underway to support, empower and celebrate the contributions of nurses from across our diverse services. Networks also shared how they were influencing positive change and created space for reflection, connection and collective learning.
On Thursday, over 100 colleagues gathered at ARTCH Studios in Preston for the Culture of Care celebration event. Organised by Jordan Spires, Practice Educator for the Culture of Care Programme, the event was hosted across three studio spaces with an action-packed agenda. After refreshments on arrival, attendees entered the main studio for a day filled with learning, networking and celebrations, honouring everyone involved in the Culture of Care programme. Sessions included a look to the future, a PNA treasure trail, an overview of the journey, the Patient First programme, and the newly launched Culture of Care Awards.
The other studio spaces included the LSCFT market, with stalls featuring Physical Health and Wellbeing, Hope and Mind (the Trust charity), Patient Experience, Talking Therapies, Community Roots and Equality and Diversity.
Anthony Kenyon also shared insight into his newly published book and the Comms Team encouraged people to spin the wheel and answer questions.
Studio three was a designated relaxation area, with mood lighting, red light masks and a space for attendees to leave comments and feedback.
At the event, Jordan Spires commented:
“A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making our Culture of Care event such a fantastic and inspiring day.
We are incredibly grateful to all our speakers, stall holders, exhibition teams, volunteers, and everyone who took the time to join us and help create such a positive and engaging atmosphere throughout the event.
The conversations, ideas, support, and shared experiences truly highlighted the strength of our LSCFT community, and we appreciate every single person who played a part in making the day such a success. My aim was to make today feel fun and different and I’m glad we achieved that!”
Reflecting on the week, Oliver Soriano, Chief Nurse Officer, said:
“I want to take a moment to reflect and offer my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed, participated, and supported these sessions across the Trust.
It gave me a powerful reminder of the strength we hold when we come together as a nursing community. You have created spaces not only to celebrate, but to learn from one another, share experiences, insights and innovations that enrich our practice and strengthen the care we provide.”
