An introduction to Community Roots

At Community Roots we offer courses that are co-designed, alongside people with lived experience and professionals by experience, to help you find accessible and fun health and wellbeing opportunities important to you.

We work alongside a range of community partners to bring you the very best opportunities in your local area. We want to help you make connections in your community and we are able to signpost you to support when you need it. By working with a range of partners, we hope to bring you opportunities relevant to you, your community and wellbeing journey.

The courses we offer cover a range of topics linked to the five ways to wellbeing and may include subjects such as arts and crafts, understanding and managing mental health conditions, relaxation techniques and using the power of story telling to challenge stigma.

All courses are available to anyone over 16. Please contact us if you are under 16 and we can signpost you to our colleagues in young people's services.

We have created safe and friendly spaces for people to learn and share without feeling judged. We are here to learn from each other and share our lived experiences. We value all experiences and see involvement and engagement as a means to learning and improvement of our services.

Our courses are relatable and inspiring because we've been there and we really understand.

Everyone is welcome, whether you have an existing health condition or challenge, care for someone with health challenges, or simply want to improve your health and well-being and better understand what’s available in your local community.

You may use our services, care for someone who does, be a community member, or work with us, all we ask is that you enrol with us to access our free and inclusive courses, workshops, and groups.

You can enrol with us in person at either of our sites, either at Community Roots @ Deepdale or, Community Roots @ Chai Centre. You will have the opportunity to sign up on the day for any courses that you want to attend.

You can also enrol online through our secure booking system or by calling us on 01772 695 365 (Deepdale) or calling 01282 628530 (Chai Centre). If you prefer to contact us by e-mail, you can email Community Roots

Look out for our monthly enrolment events at both sites too, where you will have a chance to meet the team and have a look at what is on offer.

You will also be asked to sign up to our member charter.

Once you have done this you’ll have created your own member profile which means you can access our wide range of resources, book your place on our courses and give us your feedback after attending.
