Welcome to all Trainees Rotating to Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust
We would like to offer a warm welcome to you as a new trainee rotating into Lancashire Care Foundation Trust and hope you find your placement here a pleasant, challenging and rewarding experience.
We look forward to supporting you in your placement and welcome contact from you as it is important to us that you are well informed about your placement and first day reporting instructions.
Dr Richard Morgan, is the Director of Medical Education at the Trust and is easily accessible to discuss and advise on any personal and/or educational problems that you may encounter whilst here at the Trust.
In the email sent by the Medical and Dental HR team you will have been provided with all the relevant information you need in advance of your commencement at the Trust.
On Day 1 you will be expected to attend the Trust's Induction Day to ensure you are appropriately inducted to LSCFT - if you are on-call during the evening prior to your commencement, please could you make every effort to change this arrangement, as our Trust Induction is mandatory for all new trainees.
If you are rotating into Public Health, Sexual Health or Rheumatology, your attendance at the Trust Induction and local induction (day 2) is not required as you will receive a separate induction within your department and therefore you should report straight to your base on the morning of your rotation.
Please can you ensure that you arrive promptly to ensure the smooth running of the programme, and keep to the allotted time slots.
On the day of the Trust Induction:
A welcome and introductory presentation will commence at 9:00 am with registration/coffee available from 8.30 am. You will receive important presentations throughout the day and have the opportunity to speak to a rota co-ordinator and other key contacts within the Medical & Dental HR Team. We will also work with you on this day to set up IT accounts and take photos to create your ID Badges. Lunch will be provided for all delegates on the day. The programme ends at 5:00 pm.
The full timetable for the Trust Induction has been included in your email.
Local Induction on Day 2
On Day 2 of your rotation you will attend a local induction where more specific issues relating to the locality/working area are explained. Full details of where to report have been included in the email from the Medical and Dental HR Team.
Requests for Study Leave and Annual Leave
It is essential that we receive any requests for annual leave/study leave at the earliest opportunity as it is vital that leave is planned well in advance, even before you commence your post in some cases because the on-call rotas are worked out for 6 months. Once in Post you will have access to Health Roster and Employee Online, a Web based system accessible via Trust network. You will be able to view health rosters, book annual leave and study leave as well as looking at your own clinical commitments. Rota co-ordinators are available at induction to discuss any rota issues or leave requirements with you.
Once you commence in your post and your IT account has been activated you will have access to LSCFT's intranet pages which provide you with valuable information and will also enable you to access Medical and Dental HR support pages for trainees.
It is vital that you receive the best possible training whilst at LSCFT and therefore if you have any concerns please contact The Medical HR team who are here to support you and provide general advice/guidance which will be beneficial to you.
