Earlier this week members of the Change Talks Team had the privilege of meeting with Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, and Stephen Morgan, Minister for Early Years Education.

For those of you who didn’t know, the Change Talks journey began in 2017, when Sam Tyrer (pictured third from the left), then a staff nurse, witnessed the impact of mental health struggles first-hand. This experience fuelled his passion to make a difference. Sam was motivated by a desire to prevent mental health issues and improve the lives of children; Change Talks was founded to provide meaningful experiences to both children and adults.

The Westminster meeting focused on the impact and future of the Change Talks interactive personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) platform: a dynamic resource created by NHS health experts, to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and emotional support they need to thrive. Sam and Commercial and Marketing Business Manager Francesca shared how the PSHE platform will be used in schools to enable positive conversations about mental health, resilience, relationships, and personal wellbeing.

With growing concerns around children’s mental health and the pressures they face in both the online and offline world, ensuring that every student has access to engaging, age-appropriate guidance is more vital than ever. This week’s meeting marks the start of important conversations around a shared commitment to prioritising preventative, early intervention education, and supporting teachers with the tools they need.
