You may be aware that there is upcoming industrial action involving resident doctors due to take place from 7am on Friday 14 November until 7am on Wednesday 19 November.
Here is some advice for during the periods when industrial action is underway:
Attending appointments
If you have an appointment with one or our services, please attend it as usual unless you have been contacted and told it’s been affected and needs to be rescheduled.
Medical care and advice
Members of the public can play their part to help the NHS during this difficult period by making sure they choose the right service – whether that is a pharmacy, GP, urgent treatment centre, or using NHS 111 Online for all non-emergency healthcare needs.
NHS 111 Online should be the first point of call for all urgent but not life-threatening situation. You can call 111 for treatment for those under five-years-old.
NHS 111 can tell you:
- Where to get help for your symptoms.
- How to find general health information and advice.
- Where to get an emergency supply of your prescribed medicine.
- How to get a repeat prescription.
- How to get an emergency dental appointment.
For mental health support, please call 111 and selection option 2.
If you need urgent or emergency care
Anyone who needs urgent care should use NHS111 online or through the NHS app to be assessed and directed to the right care for them. If you do not have internet access, then the free, 24/7 111 number is also available.
When someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk, you should seek emergency care in the normal way, by calling 999..
Always call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency (when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk).
The NHS.UK website has more information on when to call 999 and when to go to A&E.
