Our newly refurbished Wesham Rehabilitation Centre won the Design in Mental Health award for ‘Project of the Year – Refurbishment’.

The Design in Mental Health Network awards recognise excellence and innovation in mental health environments that improve patient recovery.

The refurbishment of the Wesham Rehabilitation Centre, which took place earlier this year, was managed between the Trust, Healthcare Support and Infrastructure Services (HSIS), Frank Whittle and contractors Eric Wright Construction, as part of our mental health rehab and recovery transformation work.

The Wesham Rehabilitation Centre has been refurbished into a new 'Moving-On’ facility with two wings providing 28 ensuite bedrooms, shared day space and a state of the art kitchen facility where patients are encouraged to develop independent living skills. There is also a large, private garden with raised beds, a poly tunnel, and grassed and patio areas to enjoy.

Joanna Stark, Director of Operations for Fylde Coast said:

“It’s absolutely fantastic that all the collective hard work and dedication to refurbish the Wesham Rehabilitation Centre has been recognised.

All the teams involved worked tirelessly to create an environment that would help support our service users on their recovery so for this to be recognised means a lot to all involved.”

James Eager from Eric Wright Construction added:

“We’re extremely proud to have won ‘Project of the Year – Refurbishment with all the team at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.

The Wesham Rehabilitation Centre refurb was a great collaborative effort to create a valuable community resource and this award really is the cherry on the top.”
