We are proud to announce that we have been shortlisted as a finalist at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2025, in recognition of our outstanding commitment to improving patient safety and driving innovation in healthcare.
The announcement comes after a rigorous judging process by a panel of esteemed healthcare leaders and patient safety experts. We have been recognised in the category Learning Disabilities Initiative of the Year for our project which addresses inequalities in respiratory health of people with learning disabilities from minoritised ethnic communities in Lancashire.
This year’s awards ceremony will take place on 15 September 2025 at Manchester Central, bringing together hundreds of healthcare professionals from across the country. Winners will be announced during a prestigious evening celebration following the HSJ Patient Safety Congress.
Tracey Hartley-Smith, Consultant Nurse for Children and Young People with Learning Disabilities and Associate Director of Nursing at LSCft, said:
"We are proud to have been shortlisted in this category for our project supported by the Burdett Trust for Nursing. At the heart of the project is a strong commitment to co-production and cultural relevance. Working closely with individuals with lived experience, families, carers, and community partners, we have co-designed and delivered an accessible, culturally appropriate respiratory health education programme. This project not only breaks new ground in addressing health disparities, but also demonstrates the power of inclusive, collaborative, and culturally sensitive approaches to improving outcomes for some of the most underserved communities.”
