All children develop their movement and coordination skills at different rates and learn new skills in different ways.

If you would like to know more about how children develop and how you can support them as they grow Kent Community NHS Foundation Trust have created an online workshop for you to watch.

The aim of the workshop is to help you to better understand your child’s motor coordination development and any challenges that they are experiencing. The workshop will give you information and strategies so that you can support your child’s skill development at home, at school and in the community.

Once you have watched the workshop it is important that you try out strategies and adjustments that can support your child. You will need to keep a record of the ways you have tried to support your child’s coordination development over a period of at least three months. This is because it takes time for change to happen and whilst some strategies might have an immediate impact on your child’s abilities to take part in activities and improve their skills, others might take longer.
