We are celebrating after scooping a top award at a special apprenticeship award event.

We were recently named Employer of the Year at the NHS Health and Social Care Apprenticeship Awards held at Imperial Banqueting in Preston on Friday (19 May).

The event recognised the outstanding contribution and achievements NHS apprentices from across Lancashire and South Cumbria have made over the last year.

Head of Resourcing at LSCft, Farzana Kauser said:

“We are delighted to have been recognised for our commitment to and development of our apprentices, who do an array of roles from nursing to corporate and beyond.

They play an integral role in the LSCft family and it’s great to see them develop from the time they arrive with us to when they are fully qualified in the roles they have worked hard to be in.

We are extremely proud that 13 of our apprentices were shortlisted for an array of awards at this event, where we saw one of them win and two were highly commended.”

Registered nurse degree apprentice Steven Jewell took home the Clinical Apprentice of the Year Award, having used the apprentice route to move from being a healthcare assistant to qualifying as a mental health nurse.

Farzana continued:

“Steven goes above and beyond in his apprenticeship and regularly provides support to his colleagues and new apprentices in a mentor capacity.

He has introduced new processes and regularly looks at ways he can improve his service users’ lifestyles, as well as acting as an ambassador for the trust apprenticeship pathways.”

Healthcare support worker apprentice Abbie Greenwood was highly commended in the ‘above and beyond’ category for her eagerness to learn new skills to benefit her patients’  wellbeing, and registered nurse degree apprentice Grace Wild was also highly commended in the ‘team player’ award for being an incredible support to her colleagues and managers.

We have an array of apprenticeship opportunities available for people of many ages and various stages of their career and training, ranging from level 2 to level 7 (Master's degree) in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical subjects.
