Sometimes children and young people experience difficulties with their voice; this can happen for short periods of time, for example when you have had a cold but sometimes this persists.

If your child or young person experiences voice difficulties for more than three weeks you should seek further advice.

Your child or young person may have a hoarse or croaky voice, a squeaky voice or they may lose their voice entirely. There can be lots of different reasons for voice difficulties and treatment needs to be specific to your child or young person.
