This Carers Week, carers are sharing their experiences of working for Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust while also having caring responsibilities for a loved one, touching on the challenges they face at both work and home that impacts their health and wellbeing. 

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

This safe haven for carers, located in the heart of Wesham, has now offered more than 30 hours of support for those in need. In the early winter of 2022, the idea of establishing a carer’s café at Wesham took root. Initiated by carers champion, Katherine Routledge, who had witnessed the positive impact of similar groups in the past and with the support of colleagues, it wasn’t long before it gained momentum.

This Carers Week, we wanted to highlight the local carers organisations across Lancashire & South Cumbria, who provide information, advice and support to those who might be struggling with their caring role. As a trust, we understand the impact caring might have and therefor during this important week, wanted to raise awareness of the organisations in the community who can help and support.

Some good news, the Trust has been recognised at the HSJ Digital Awards 2024 which acknowledges excellence in digitising, connecting, and transforming health and care.

Today marks the start of Pride Month, a month where we celebrate all things LGBTQ+, raise awareness and remember those who fought so hard for acceptance and liberation.
